Wow! Quietly slid into the news feeds I have for today is news that Police can (and have been for a while) hack into home and work computers without a court order.
In other changes to the Force for 2009, Police will now be wearing hoodies and dishing out headbuts as punishments.
A little while ago, when I moved into my new flat I made a decision not to have a TV. It wasn’t a big song or dance, I just didn’t move a TV into the flat. After constant (and frankly rude) harassing from the TV licensing agency, they started to accept that I don’t actually posses one and need not buy a licence (though that doesn’t stop them coming round every so often to check up on me – For such a large organisation their record keeping is atrocious). My friends and family still remain a little surprised but they’re getting used to the idea and to be honest I very rarely miss it.
I tell you this now for one important reason. I left behind “the box” because I didn’t want to fall into the trap of sitting down and saying “what’s on”. Invariably what is on is total rubbish designed to entertain the lowest common denominator. I figured that with such a hefty challenge ahead of me I needed to concentrate hard and fill my head with gold and so far….. it’s really helped.
What I have found myself doing is filling the “down time” with other activities. Blogging, reading, researching, seeing friends, cooking etc. The real kicker has come recently though when I have discovered Google Video as an important resource. I often find myself sitting down when I would veg in front of “the box” and Googling (yes I used it as a verb) for whatever I’m interested at the time. This is what has brought these little gems. I was looking up more resources on Internet Marketing (what I spend most of my time doing currently) and ended up pulling out these cherubs.
The Perry Marshall Google Adwords Video I came across a week or so ago and crikey, what an eye opener. The man is a true marketing guru. For free content (although this is a little dated now) this just about tops the net. This is the kind of info you should be paying HUNDREDS of dollars for. I mean really, if you want to, or have ever used Google Adwords, you MUST watch this video. I found I had to pull out a pen and paper to take notes, and I’m glad I did. It’s the video bible of Google Adwords strategy.
This whole last week I have been diving around, distracted and struggling to make sense of what I should be doing as a “business developer”. I have, in reality, just been building websites, not building a business. I can’t thank Rich Schefren enough in his Business Building Presentation for getting me back on track and pepped up. Every wanted to make a business, or struggling with your current one? Don’t do anything until you have watched this. This hour and a half will quite literally save your life.
Finally, just a little bit of internet history for you. I’ve watched this before and found it very interesting to see the visionaries of the past being so accurate on their predictions. OK, so Netscape didn’t end up ruling the internet, but kudos to Ken McArthur for his vision.
Well that’s my round-up, enjoy them in their entirety, those three vids. If your life is made up of time, and these videos will save you time, then hey, they might just be saving a bit of your life.
Think about it.
There’s not many things as odd as changing your sleep pattern. I have started on my quest to live a polyphasic sleep pattern and realised that this is going to (if I can keep it up) change my life in many ways other than expected. It’s more than just a change of the times and methods that you go to sleep, it is very much changing the very fabric of night and day. I have lived with a monophasic sleep pattern for twenty something years, and to change this is more than just a shift of regime, it is going to mean me having to redefine the very way in which I exist. Don’t get me wrong, this is exactly what I was after; finding new and improved ways to live, but I just didn’t realise that this change was going to be so far reaching.
I will try and keep updates on my progress on a daily basis, though I’m not so sure this will be absolutely possible, but I will do my best on it. I have just had my first nap (04:00) so it is now 04:58 and I’m feeling OK with it now. I am not going to say any more than this because I am fully aware that I have to go through a two week period of sleep deprivation before I can start to know that I am “over the hump” – but I’ve begun and I don’t have any regrets yet.
Welcome to all those who are joining from the old Lindsayhart “A Car Too Far” blog, it was a hard decision to make, but I decided to split off the blog to a new domain to avoid confusing the LH version. I was feeling that I was loosing focus there; there is so much to blog about and I didn’t feel it was beneficial to mix in posts about self development with ones about my personal outlook on life, in amongst those about “Meeting Google Style”. Anyhow it has given me the chance to try out the WodPress blog system as I have heard so much about it. I am also with a brand new host, who I will blog about later, but so far, suffice to say that their service is SUPERB!
Anyhow, introduction over, there will be some serious changes around here. This is not the fun, chatty blog; that will stay on Lindsayhart, no, this is serious stuff. This is where I am going to get down, harcore and dirty about what is going on with business, money generation, AIS and my new way of living.
Hold tight then, I’m strapping myself to a 900 Gigtonne liferocket and lighting the fuse. What you will witness here is the boom or bust of Mr Matt P Lindsay, Internet Entrepreneur, AIS aficionado and aspiring millionaire. You will see here my entire progress from zero to hero. I will complete my dreams, burst through traditional ways of thinking and show the world there is a better way to live. You are currently at ground zero, looking as I stand in the starting blokes, engaging launch control, you can see how I have done it and all the steps I have taken along the path.
Plug in, bookmark this and hold on to your hats, I’m about to punch through the success stratosphere and you can see how I’ve done it, right here on “A Car Too Far”.
